A recent Guerrilla Games leak revealed that the developer’s next game will be a shooter with an eSports focus, but it will not be set in the Killzone universe. However, we have confirmation that Crash Bandicoot 4, Arcadegeddon, and The Man of Medan will be available to download and keep for anyone with PlayStation Plus via the Essential tier. The Killzone franchise has not received a new game since 2013’s Killzone Shadow Fall, and unfortunately, it seems like this will not be changing anytime soon. Sony hasn’t announced whether we’ll be seeing more games added to the Extra and Premium tiers in July. The classic PS Plus is now called PS Plus Essential, giving access to online multiplayer gaming, cloud save backups, exclusive offers and at least 2 free monthly games. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles. The PlayStation Plus relaunch has now rolled out around the world, transforming the PS Plus we once knew into a three tiered subscription service that bundles in and expands what was once PlayStation Now. What’s with the whole PlayStation Plus relaunch? Killzone’s fate is unknown, the latest rumours suggesting that a PSVR 2 reboot could be in development. That second game is fondly remembered here at TheSixthAxis with regular clan meetups within the gritty multiplayer shooter. Once billed as Sony’s “Halo killer” the Killzone franchise has slowly faded into obscurity over time. Single player offline modes remain available Online features (including online multiplayer modes) will cease on that date. On 12 August 2022, online servers for Killzone: Mercenary, Killzone Shadow Fall (including Intercept Mode) and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League will shut down.
